Who Am I?

I started out in the Radio Industry in 1987. My first ever presenter shift was at Marcher Sound in Wrexham and my first (and only) show critique from the boss there was ‘…you sounded like Jimmy Somerville on acid!’

Undeterred, from there I moved to do regular shows at Radio Wyvern, Red Dragon Radio, TFM, Buzz FM, Stray FM, Fresh Radio, Signal Cheshire, BBC Radio York, BBC Tees, Star Radio, Sun FM and Zetland FM…I think that’s them all!

I am a successful Radio Programmer, running Stray FM in Harrogate and seeing it’s success soar over a 5 year period from 30% weekly reach to 40% and weekly listeners up from 40,000 to 57,000, beating Radio’s 2 and 4!

In 2003, after a couple of Management stints, I became a Consultant and also secured a full time role working for the Police.

After becoming a Voiceover in 2006, my varied media work has continued from my Manchester home, where I provide voiceover, presentation, creative, sales and social media marketing services to clients all around the world, involved in radio, tv, online and the corporate world.

As a Radio Tutor, I’ve written and taught part time courses with some fantastic students at SSR Manchester. Additionally I’m also involved with the wonderful team at Zetland FM, a local community station based in Redcar and Cleveland in the North East.

Nowadays, with work as a Motorway Traffic Officer, my media work remains busy and varied. I have founded @MancTraffic on Facebook and Twitter, which offers those in the Greater Manchester area an update on daily traffic conditions and it’s popularity has resulted in local and national media like the Manchester Evening News, UK online newspapers, BBC, ITV and local radio stations using content from the feeds too. It currently achieves on average around 150,000 post reads per month on Facebook alone and that is growing.
